Pick A Play Style

While every poker player has a story about bad beats or catching a two outer on the river, most understand that poker is more a game of skill than it is of luck. Being able to apply strategy and logic to your poker will greatly increase your chance of raking in pots and growing your chip stack.

Each player has his or her own unique strategy for playing poker and finding your strategy is the first step to becoming an excellent poker player. There are a few generic types of players and deciding which of those you are can help you develop a play style that is a unique fit to your individual personality.

There are two basic ways to play either playing tight which is where you do not play a lot of hands or playing loose where you play a lot. While most players swing between one or the other, understanding which style is more suited to your personality will help you improve your game.
